Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:36 to 1:53 pm and there were five seals seen during that time. Half the number from yesterday!
Way out on the Lanikai side of LPB was an Unknown Weaner: weaner size and coloration, no info on sex or tags.
Down from 1BS was Adult Male 1: smaller adult size, about 60% molted, male belly and two red tags. Marilyn thinks this is the seal that was labeled AM4 from yesterday.
About 30 feet Makapuu side of AM1 was Adult Male 2: large adult size, about 55% molted, gray male belly, not sure about tags. This is the seal that was labeled AM1 yesterday. His molt hasn't progressed a lot since yesterday.
Between Middle Cliff and 3BS was a Sub-adult Female: sub-adult size, light tan female belly, not sure about tags.
Down from 3BS was Adult Male 3: adult size, newer coat, light to medium gray male belly, two red tags. This could be RK24 but Marilyn just wasn't sure.
Team R&B's first find today was the lovely RH76 Kala. She was alone comfortably snoozing on the rocks.
And then there were the multiple seals foraging. Not as much action as yesterday but there were a few out there in the open ocean and at times right along the jetty. They were able to ID: RG32, R3CX Nalu and RM31 Kai. Kalua RL20 was there for a bit and then took off.
Next they headed over to check on their Mystery Male Molter who now has a new coat. The adult male is 100% molted still no sign of tags. They think it might be R617 Kimo, due to the split hind flipper and ding on his back. They're waiting on confirmation.
Team R&B spotted a seal from afar, and tried to get to the area. After much looking and patience they tried an area and was to get close enough to get an ID. It was R416 Makalii alone resting peacefully.
Heading over to Makaha they found RP28 Wakea alone on shore. There were a couple of people fishing close by but all was good.
They heard some dogs barking, so Team R&B moved on and much to their surprise found another seal. It was Nalu R3CX on shore, getting some rest after all that foraging.
Lastly they did some back tracking and they finally got to see the Unknown Adult seal with the clean coat hauled out. He is huge and fully molted, it was RL08 a six year old male He was the one they had been seeing foraging with the cc scars.
