Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 11:54 to 1:32 pm and there were five seals seen during that time.
On the 1BS side of LPB was Weaner Unknown #1: weaner size, light male belly, no info on sex or tags. WU1 was between two coconuts in the beginning which was confusing.
Down from 1BS was a Sub-adult Unknown: sub-adult size, at least one tag, unsure about its sex. This is probably the seal that was labeled as a S/F yesterday.
Between 3BS and SRI was an Adult Male: adult size, old brown coat, brownish-red male belly; not sure about tags. Marilyn is fairly sure he is about ready to molt.
About 50 feet closer to SRI was an adult male labeled RK24 Bruno: adult size, newer coat, two red tags, male belly and possible scar on the right rear side. There was a Wedge-tailed Shearwater chick/fledging exercising its winds up from RK24.
Just beyond SRI was Weaner Unknown #2: weaner size, yellow belly, two red tags. Marilyn thinks this is a female but c couldn't confirm.
Team R&B started at pokai where there were multiple seals foraging. They noted that there are times no matter how much you may know a seal, it can become difficult to get an ID. They certainly give it their all and sometimes it takes hours. Today was one of those hard days, but finally they were able to ID RG32 and RM31 Kai out in the water foraging.
Then there were three seals. The third seal was RH48 Lei Ola foraging alone off the rocks. She kept her distance from the males the entire time.
At another site they spotted a seal sleeping on the rocks. It was the lovely RH76 Kala alone and restingpeacefully. They were happy to find her, since she's been moving around to different sited.
While watching over her a Iwa Bird flew by, an awesome site.
Over at Kahe they spotted a seal alone with the waves slapping around him. It was RP20 Puka, getting hit with the waves and Team R&B knew he would be moving on soon.
They finished their route to Yoks but there was nothing more to see.
