Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:08 to 2:38 pm and there were nine seals seen during that time.
On the Lanikai side of LPB was RH76 Kala and PO11. Marilyn saw one nursing session and several time when the pup headed toward the water on its own, but ultimately returning to mom. Later two seals (RK37 and a Sub-adult Female) hauled out on LPB after leaving the rock flats between SRI and RRB.
In the Middle Cliff area was RL12 Aukai and PO12. The pup washidden behind mom for much of the time. Marilyn did see a short swim and some interaction. Both mom and pup seem to be doing well.
Between Middle Cliff and 3BS was weaner RU24: weaner size, shape and coloration, two red tags and a light male belly.
Initially alone between 3BS and SRI was a seal labeled Juvenile Female: juvenile size, light female belly and two red tags. It's possible that the JF is weaner RU38, whom Marilyn did not see elsewhere. However, the JF seemed larger than a weaner and her belly seemed to be a yellowish tint.
At 1:15 pm and Adult Female hauled out about 15 feet from the JF. The A/F had an older coat, tannish-brown female belly and a light umbilicus and two red tags. The A/F and J/F never really interacted.
Initially out on the rock flats between SRI and RRB were two seals:
Sub-adult Female: smaller sub-adult size, older coat, tan female belly and two red tags.
Nearby was RK37 Hali'a/Lauloa: adult size, light gray female belly and two red tags, and NB on the left lower rear side.
At 1:37 pm Marilyn noticed that RK37 and SF were gone. About five minutes later they had hauled out on LPB, where they spent the rest of the time.
Team R&B started at Kahe where they saw a seal entering the area looking to haul in. He was very green and it turned out to be RL20 Kalua. He eventually made it up and took a nap after a great big sneeze.
They had walked away heading back to the car when they looked back one last time. Ta Da there is another seal that was with RL20 and they were fighting.
They went back to find RP28 Wakea. He is looking good, no issues and he was having a great time with RL20. The two boys were playing rough, which reminded them of RN14 and RH32 playing for hours years ago.
On their last stop they spotted two seals at yoks. They were able to ID the female as BG R303, but the male was a little harder. They believe its big boy R617. He was sleeping next to her on shore. There were people out and about, one mom and kid swam in front of the seals andR617 wasn't happy. Team R&B watched waiting to see what would happen, but BG moved higher up and of course R617 followed immediately. It was getting late, the lifeguards were aware of the seals being there, but there weren't any signs.
As a side note, NOAA confirmed the male seal from yesterday was RN04 Kainoa who may have tossed his fishing lure.
