Marilynn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:25 to 1:59 pm and there were five seals seen during that timee
Initially on the 1BS side of LPB were two seals:
Adult Male 1: large adult size, older coat, about 25% molted, male belly and two red tags.
Initially up on the edge of the berm was TempN25: sub-adult size, new coat, light male belly, no tags and a shallow pit scat at the base of LFF.
RQ44 Mahina started out between 1BS and 2BS. She left and relocated to LPB. RQ44: sub-adult size, new coat, medium gray female belly and three tags. When she moved to the middle of LPB, she seemed fascinated by a Wedge-tailed Shearwater chick/fledging that was on the beach. She moved clear around it.
At some point TempN25 joined RQ44, then they went into the water for a short time and were joined by AM1 and then they all hauled out again.
Near the SRI channel was Adult Male 2: small adult size, old brown coat with green, tannish-brown male belly and two red tags.
On the rock flat between SRI and RRB was a Juvenile Male: juvenile size, new coat, light male belly and two red tags.
Team R&B spotted Miss Lei Ola RH48 at pokai. She was very busy this morning foraging. Her beau R3CX Nalu was out there but he was very slow to catch up with her. While observing Nalu, they could see that he couldn't catch up with her, His coat is really green, and he might be starting his molt.
From afar they saw a male haul out at tracks. They couldn't see any tags, and can't confirm its ID,although they suspect it might be RL20.
Also they saw an adult seal foraging off tracks area, but couldn't make an ID. Unfortunately they weren't able to any decent photos.
While heading to another location a man stopped them and kept pointing to the beach. They pulled over and were happy to find a nice clean coated seal. Initially they thought the tag read 3u, but when they checked their photos a little closer, they realized it was RP30. Looks like the "O" resin is wearing done and looks like a "U".
Lastly late in the day they found two seals at Makaha. When they went to check it out they discovered Nalu R3CX and confirmed he is molting.
The other seal was an adult, green coat, two tags, but not easily readable due to the sand. They believe this is RW02 PvKauai.
