February 10, 2019 Monk Seal Dailies
Todays dailies are brought to you by Team Billand and Lesley. Lesley's Ka'ena Update is part two of the dailies ( there's a lot going on out there at the point). Team Billand headed over to KoOlina before 6 am. When they got there the surf was pounding and yes there was a seal and they were able to get a tag shot. There was da Benny RE74 hidden by the naupaka bush at Aunties. Team Billand had to leave but they called and reported him to the hotline. While in the road they got a called from a friend saying people were close to the seal, there were no signs or volunteers at that time. Team Billand wnet back later and found Benny in the same spot snoozing, volunteer stationed up by Benny and a zone set up. Team Billand was off to their next stop at Plains and found an adult male seal in a zone already set up. The surfers said he was there from last night. Team Billand was able to ID Buster. When Team Billand headed over to a westside beach the spotted a seal slithering into the area, looking around and then turned and headed out to the East. They are officially reporting an UU but they are "pretty sure" it was Kekoa RK72. Then Team Billand spotted a seal coming in on the rocks. They were able to ID Lei Ola RH48, with the surf pounding they were thinking it was not a good spot for her. But too late, the waves came in swiftly and shoved Lei Ola off the rocks. She swam her heart out and snuggled against the rocks. They spotted R3CU up on the rocks, snoozing. They ID'd him by his tags. Apparently this is the place to be, Team Billand could see RIP snuggled in the rocks, Kawena RH36 next to him and R3CU in the rocks. Kawena's beautiful applied N6 bleach was visible.
