12/07/2018 Monk Seal Dailies:

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand. ALSO a link to the Washington Post, one of the many news outlets that have carried the story about the Seal with an Eel in it's nose.  I guess this photo captured the attention of newspapers as well as some cable news stations.  I received a message from a friend of mine in Massachusetts with a link to CNN. In fact if you google eel stuck in seals nose, you be surprised the coverage.

Team Billand spent some time at Paradise Cove waiting for a seal to arrive, but there was none, only some nice people with lots of questions.  Hmmm outreach when there was no seal.... pretty cool.
They headed west and spotted a seal snuggled in the rocks on a small patch of sand. They see the tag RH36 Kawena, she is looking clean, spotless, beautiful coat. 
To her right was RIP RR70 on the lower rocks, snoozing away from Kawena. On their later check only RIP remained, Kawena left and wasn't seen the rest of the day.

During the afternoon Team Billand was at a Leeward beach and there on the rocks was a seal. It is that little Kauai girl RH92. Tags were showing and her right sided scars were visible, on cheek and fore flipper.
A message today from our pal Val was curious what brought her and other young Kauai seals to Oahu...... WELL, the obvious, they want to come meet their aunties and uncles :-)
