11/20/2018 Monk Seal Dailies:
Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand. Well Team Billands day began similar to yesterday. They arrived to a Leeward beach before 8 am. There were two seal on the rocks towards the right, it appeared Ka'ale RH32 just arrived and heading towards Kekoa RK72 who was in snooze mode. Of course Ka'ale is a rascal (which is a nice way of saying butthead) went up to Kekoa and managed to piss him off. Kekoa "whooped" and Ka'ale got spooked. He took off to the next pond and Kekoa just watched him being his silly self. Ka'ale landed in another pond for about 20 minutes, just moaned and groaned the entire time, rolling in the pond tossing his hind flippers, slapping the water, then pausing to see if anyone was paying attention. Kekoa was not impressed and just layed on his side. Ka'ale made his way to another pond and out to the rocks where he finally settled. While watching over Kekoa and Ka'ale, Team Billand spotted a third critter coming in fast. This seal came slithering without any hesitation, hauled up on the lower rocks alone and far from the two boys. Team Billand ID'd Kawena RH36, by her applied bleach, visible tags. She moved up and settled for the day. I bet it would be REALLY amazing to see her and Ka'ale interacting! By the way, since Kekoa and Ka'ale have been hanging out so much, it made me think of RN14. Wonder where this dude has been? He and Ka'ale would get into some trouble together.
Team Billand went and checked out at Plains because they had a call come in, but by the time they got there the critter was gone. On their way back west they made a couple of stops and found the infamous Rocky RH58 at one of her old stomping galumphing grounds. She was there in one position the entire visit. A fisherman told them she was there, very nice of him, he referred to her as his fishing partner. A HUGE plane flew over, and Rocky didn't even flinch.
