HMMA Update From August 22nd

At 0718 Colleen checked in with a report of Kaiwi (RK96) at the Outrigger Canoe Club. ID was made by tags K96/K97. At 0904 Gayle checked in with a report of Kawena (RH36) at Sandy Beach. ID was made by tags H36/H37. NOAA was notified. A team responded and Kawena was successfully vaccinated. At 0920 Karen T. checked in from Turtle Bay with a report of Honey Girl (R5AY) at the Keiki Pool with PO5. ID was made by tag 5AZ. The two seals did not appear to notice each other. Honey Girl would depart at 1300. At 1113 Carola checked in with a report of Ka'ale (RH32) at Mokuleia. Ka'ale initially hauled out at 1040. ID was made by tags H32/H33. At 1857 Anissa checked in with a report of Right Spot (R016) at North Beach at MCBH. ID was made by natural bleach.

    We saw Ka'ale and another monk seal today at Kahe point ID by tag H32. If memory serves the other one was ID'd by N1H tag and on body. They were playing very close to us, very cool!
