It was a difficult day for Rabbit Island viewing with rain and poor to none visibility. An U/M did haul out from Seal Rock Inlet, and moved up into the grass. An ID was impossible. My Rabbit Island day was of no consequence after a Team Billand call , reporting the 2 foraging animals once again off shore of Germaine’s Luau Grounds at Campbell Industrial Park. For some days now they have been characterizing the two as a large one and a small one. Well, today the small one became KEA (RN46), our young SE Quadrant boy. Barbara got a shot his natural bleach on his right fore flipper. For some months now we’ve noticed that Kea will be around for a week or two, and then vanishes for 12 to 14 days, before returning. This time around he has been gone for 24 days. The CIP sighting was a shock, but he is a growing boy and at a year and a half old, it’s not surprising that he is ranging further.

Evening email from Dr. Tom brought word of what he characterized as a tagged animal, just east of the hotel, at Turtle Bay. Unfortunately, there is insufficient information in the photos to confirm an ID.
