As most of you have heard, seen or read today we lost a young female seal RF58 today..... It has taken me all day to wrap my brain around this one, every time I hear the news report, or read about it I just break down....
To all the volunteers, professionals and caretakers on Kauai, my heart goes out to you.... I am sorry for such a devastating loss....

My emotions go from deep sadness to complete outrage.... I am at a loss for words. I hope over the next few days there will be some clues that can lead to the capture of the animal who would do such a thing.

We were on Kauai when little RF58 was born. She was born on our 45th anniversary. We were honored to have such a gift from Nature, we felt blessed to have met this tiny little creature, next to our Oahu seal, her fantastic mom RH58..ROCKY.

Our hearts ACHE, we feel for all the Kauai Volunteers who spent many joyful hours with RF58.
To the persons responsible..YOU SHOULD NOT LIVE ON THIS EARTH..you are a savage beast with no SOUL, NO HEART. I hope you get what you deserve, you are not HUMAN!!!

Melanie, I couldn't agree with you more. Put so eloquently, my thoughts were not quite so well put. Our hearts go out to all the caretakers for these babies. Such a loss of life can never be condoned or explained. When these animals are given so much by so many and then one sociopathic human takes it all away, it becomes almost unbearable. Our love and support goes out to all that have done so much for these animals. Our heartfelt prayers and condolences to all. Dana
