I found La'akea at TB at 11:20am on the beach before Mackenzie's. I think she had just hauled out because she was still wet and on the move, looking for a comfortable place to sleep. She decided on a spot under an Ironwood tree. After burrowing and snorting around in the needles for about 10 minutes she finally settled down to sleep.
I guess those little cones don't bother her.... amazing because they hurt me.
