Day 5 Last Day Marine Mammal Center 5/16
We were looking forward to working with the adorable harbor seals - but boy are they a lot of work! They are so delicate and there are so many of them that everything takes a lot of time. We put in an 11 hour work day with the Friday crew. The center had 55 harbor seal pups this season - twice as many as last year! Most did not have injuries but were brought in because they were starving so it thought that their food source is hurting in the ocean. We learned so much during our time at the center! Thanks again to the ocean conservancy and the marine mammal center for giving us the opportunity. We said goodbye to our friends Mariana and Emily from Greece. I hope they will visit us someday in Hawaii. See you when we get home! Aloha, Jen, Rafe & Dana
